"Only a lad, you really can't blame him. Only a lad, society made him. Only a lad, he's underpriveledged and abused - perhaps a little bit confused," "Only a Lad" - Oingo Boingo

The Razor has argued that John Walker Lindh should be executed for his taking up arms against the USA, and participating in actions which lead to the death of Johnny "Mike" Spann. For reasons unknown to us at this time, the Bush Administration has supported the plea agreement reached by Lindh and the Justice Department. This solution has left many with bad, "Carter-esque" feelings towards the administration as well as the concern that maybe the moral relativist virus present in the State Department has infected members of the Justice Department.

But there is hope. One solution to our problem is to extradite John Walker Lindh to Kabul to face trial for crimes against the Afghan people. Such extradition would likely result in his execution at the hands of his sworn enemies.

It should be remembered that the side Mr. Lindh fought on wasn't averse to imposing the death penalty. The Taliban regularly executed members of the Northern Alliance as well as peasants, homosexuals and women. So ending up on the wrong side of the AK-47 should not present a ethical problem to Mr. Lindh. His extradition would also follow past precedents where Americans have been handed over to local authorities for crimes such as rape and murder. It also follows State Department guidelines for Americans travelling abroad, the most important being "When you are in a foreign country, you are subject to its laws,".

Since he has plead guilty to the charges of illegally fighting for the Taliban and will shortly begin serving his sentence, John Walker Lindh should be extradited to Afghanistan to face charges there - if the Afghani government under Hamid Karzai requests it. By facing an Islamic court, Lindh would be able to live his ideals freed from the corruption of the America which he so despises. He most likely wouldn't live very long perhaps, but their might be a bevy of seventy-two virgins waiting for him on the other side if he attains martyrdom.

John Walker Lindh aka Abdul Hamid should be given this chance that he avoided by not breathing diesel flames in the Qala Jangi prison unlike his Taliban brothers currently residing in VirginLand. Such a chance at martyrdom should not be denied this man simply on the basis of the mewlings of his parents or the moral relativist leanings of members of the judiciary. In fact one could argue that by preventing his extradition and shot at Paradise the government was wrongfully interfering with the practice of his religion.

Please write Prime Minister Hamid Karzai and ask him to consider prosecuting John Walker Lindh. He may be reached via the following address:
