List of Leftist Attacks Against the Right – or Anyone Else They Disagree With

Michelle Malkin, herself a victim of leftist attacks for being a conservative Filipino-American woman, catalogs the hatred directed against the Right – or anyone else they disagree with – by so-called “progressives.”

UPDATE: Ann Althouse adds a list of attacks initially blamed on the Right that turned out to have been committed by Leftists or Muslims.

UPDATE2: JustOneMinute reminds us that a congressman calling for civility today in a New York Times op-ed piece last Fall called for the shooting of Florida gubernatorial candidate Rick Scott:

“That Scott down there that’s running for governor of Florida,” Mr. Kanjorski said. “Instead of running for governor of Florida, they ought to have him and shoot him. Put him against the wall and shoot him.”

Update3: Whole websites are now popping up that catalog leftist attacks. Case in point: Climate of Hate.

Scott, the link is meaningless. Again, you can find just as much right-wing attacks on liberals if you search the internet long enough. In fact, I’m sure a list of Michael Savage or Ann Coulter quotes alone would dwarf the list that Michelle Malkin has come up with.

I see people like yourself adding to the dangerous polarization of this country. And not just because you’ve self-identified with the right. I see it on both sides. It seems to me that no one with a politically-slanted blog is interested in dialogue or, god forbid, being the voice of reason amongst the shouters. Political blog writers seem only interested in picking up a megaphone and shouting over everyone else. Unfortunately, no one is interested in listening.

Sigh. Welcome to the lowest common denominator. Very, very sad.

    I’m glad I write screenplays.

Btw – I do enjoy your non-political essays. I think you’ve come quite a ways as a writer.

Well at least you like something I write. That means a lot.

As for politics, we’ll just have to agree to disagree. “Self-identify with the right.” I like that. Did you know Libertarians used to be considered Left Wing? Funny how things change.

Back in the 1980’s it was the Right leading the censorship charge; now it’s the Left under the guise of hate speech codes and political correctness. Back in the ‘80s I felt like a lefty. Today I’m comfortable on the Right. Have I changed or has the political landscape? Or is it a combination of both?

  3. Jack:

    Scott,

I think both you and the political landscape has changed. I don’t know if you remember, but I would sometime disagree with you back in the ‘80’s. I wouldn’t say you were extreme, per se, but your political leanings swung a little too far left for me then, as they do to the right, now.

Maybe it’s just the way all our brains are wired. My biggest beef is that I don’t hear the voice of reason. From anyone! Both sides just try to outshout the other. I find it worrisome. And you’re right, we’ll both just have to disagree about politics.

That being said, I did mean it when I commented about your writing. I loved your most recent essay about your son, also the one about driving into the storm, and the one about your wife making the house call to the man who was in the final stages of his illness. Good stuff!! Keep it up.

Oh, I’ll still read your political stuff too. And try to keep my annoyance to myself. :-)
