Krauthammer: The last refuge of a liberal
The Democrats are going to get beaten badly in November. Not just because the economy is ailing. And not just because Obama over-read his mandate in governing too far left. But because a comeuppance is due the arrogant elites whose undisguised contempt for the great unwashed prevents them from conceding a modicum of serious thought to those who dare oppose them.
Krauthammer shows his genius once again. I’m also surprised that the WaPo would print it. Perhaps it’s because he’s been associated with the paper for so long – they picked him up while he was associated with the Mondale campaign (whom I voted for in 1984 – in the interest of full disclosure).
I doubt the paper would hire someone like him now.

Joseph:
Krauthammer’s article is great. I’ve learned to neutralize false accusations of bigotry by outflanking Liberals. It’s rather easy to do when you approach a debate from a Libertarian perspective.
Liberal: Opponents of gay marriage are homophobes.
Me: If we allow gay marriage, what is next, polygamy?
Liberal: Of course not. Don’t be silly.
Me: Consenting adults have a right to contract whatever type of marriage they want. Polygamy is an accepted practice in dozens of cultures. How dare you use the state to impose your interpretation of marriage on other, you bigot!
OR
Liberal: We need amnesty for 11 million illegal aliens.
Me: I think America can absorb 11 million immigrants. Let’s increase the number of Diversity Lottery Visas to 1 million each year for the next 11 years and open up the Diversity Lottery to people from all nations. After we do that, we can talk about amnesty.
Liberal (the response I got from a Democrat Congress Rep when I gave him that proposal): We can’t do that. We have to reserve jobs for Americans.
Me: How dare you use the force of government to discriminate against non-Americans in the workplace. I believe in a free market that allows all humans to compete equally in the economy. You are nothing to a xenophobic bigot!

I write in late October, several months after this opinion was aired.Time has proven the accuracy of Krauthammer’s perspective to be laser guided on the target.Juan Williams was just canned from NPR and Americans were recently treated to the left’s assault on the Chamber of Commerce.I’m re-reading much of what Mr. Krauthammer has opined …... I see now why there are always three left leaning pundits on “Inside Washington”,any fewer and it wouldn’t be a fair fight.Keep it up Charles!
