Electoral Nightmare: Worst Case 2004
Dean Esmay has an excellent analysis of the Electoral System in this article. This got me thinking.
Imagine the following:
Everyone in a Red State votes for Bush, perhaps after John Ashcroft threatens to eat their livers; the vote in states won by Kerry doesn’t change – no doubt because they were protected by Michael Moore. Michael Moore! Hero to Jihadists who kill gays and the gays they kill!
Now, imagine that 160,000 voters in Ohio found the urge to vote Kerry instead of Bush.
Kerry therefore wins the election by carrying Ohio’s Electoral College votes.
What would be the maximum popular vote won by George Bush, that would still result in his loss in the electoral college?
I did a quick analysis of the popular vote based on the above scenario that can be found here.
The answer: Bush could have won the popular vote by 25,581,879 votes and still lost the election.
Me? I smell a conspiracy!
Wait, that’s just my dog…
