Throwing Dodd Under the Bus
Is Obama throwing Sen. Chris Dodd under the bus over the AIG bonus fiasco? It sure appears that way. Dodd admitted to CNN that he dropped an amendment to the Stimulus bill last month that would have banned such bonuses:
“I agreed reluctantly,” Dodd said. “I was changing the amendment because others were insistent.”
Dodd won’t say who those others are – yet. But I suspect that he soon will because the Obama administration seems much more willing to let Dodd take the fall over “TurboTax Tim” Geithner.
For Obama it’s a no brainer: Dodd is already damaged goods thanks to his “Friend of Angelo” status and his cozy Irish cottage deal. Geithner was one of Obama’s first appointments. Dodd fails and the Democrat majority in the senate drops to 58. Geithner fails and Obama’s leadership takes a hit.
Obama is ruthless. He will happily sacrifice any and all to protect himself. Right now Dodd is damaged goods and the wheels are upon him. Should things continue however, Geithner will be next.

Well, regardless of the AIG money, do you really think the stimulus plan will work. I have some doubts, and am certain in the long term will raise the debt level as well raise the likelihood of huge inflationary pressure later on. I was looking the other day, at a site,

where it was showing the cyclicality in the economy. Maybe we should just let the cycle take its course. Just my 2 cents.

You guys are going to be up shit creek if BHO is actually right about the economy and things turn around. “Coward in Chief” are you fucking serious? Where does all of your hate come from? I mean, you seem reasonably intelligent, as opposed to Buck there who really, really needs to learn how to spell. Damn, Buck, get a grip!
I am with you 100% – with regards to you love for animals. But most of the rest – sorry, you are dead wrong.
You call yourselves conservatives, but really, you are con-scared-atives. And if you continue to listen to and believe shouting idiots like Rush and Coulter and the rest, you will soon be con-slave-atives.
Your choice. Grow some stones & think for yourself, for petes sake.
No hard feelings – this is a great site, with (some) excellent content – congratulations.
Gut gelaunt!

Where did your presumed hatred for George W. Bush come from? What happened to “dissent is the highest form of patriotism”? Mind you, I don’t believe that myself but it’s interesting to watch those who claimed it now attempt to stifle dissent by attacking the dissenters.
As for thinking for ourselves, how do you know for a fact that we aren’t? Do you really believe that just because we think differently than you that we are stupid and must be slaves to someone else? Isn’t that a bit presumptuous on your part?
Speaking for myself, I am not afraid of the president. Having lived through quite a few of them I have learned their limits, and what they can and cannot do even with their party in power. However I have deep, serious misgivings about Obama’s policies. I have studied them at length and know enough about politics and economics to question them intelligently – as 8 years of writing on this website attests. I believe they are ill-considered, based on faulty assumptions, and dangerous to our nation’s well being.
As for your thinking I am “dead wrong” – that’s fine. I have operated by the words of Gerald Ford: “We can disagree without being disagreeable.” However when good people who disagree with those in power are labeled as racists and Nazis by those in power and their supporters, then something is seriously wrong.
People like you should consider how Obama and the Democrats have reacted to dissent. It’s amazing how fast they have switched from calling for more of it to demonizing it. They won’t be in power forever, and you may find yourself disagreeing once more with the elite.
And thanks for the Kudos.
