Liberals and Terrorists
Oh, during last night’s presidential press conference did anyone catch Helen Thomas’s use of the term “supposed terrorists” to describe al-Qaeda and the Taliban in Pakistan? I’m not sure what one would have to do to qualify for the label in her book on the very day they release another snuff video.

It is plain that without the media, terrorists would have no reason to do what they do.
They don’t kill innocent people because they stand in the way, they are tactical targets, or any reason other than because the death of these people will get them publicity. Their weapon is publicity.
Remove the media and you will remove cause de entre’ for terror.

Tempting… Truly it is but a free and independent media is one of the best guarantees against authoritarianism of all types – not just that sought by the Islamofascists.
I’m actually more concerned today about the Media’s ideological affinity with the Democratic party and the current administration. The problem isn’t the leftists within the media, it’s the lack of ideological diversity within the mainstream media.
A century ago in America’s cities there were right wing, left wing and even socialist newspapers. Today most cities have only one newspaper, and their TV media is just as monocultural with most being owned by huge media conglomerates.
Talk Radio is dominated by conservative voices – but that may soon be silenced if many on the left get their way. Even the Internet is dominated by the left – through professional writers hired by the lefty sites.
A healthy media that reflects the opinions of Americans is the best guarantee that America will outlast the Islamic terrorists – or any demagogues from the Left or Right that reared his head.
