Howard Stern vs Clear Channel

Which is more obscene:
A) The Howard Stern Show - which you can choose not to listen to
B) Clear Channel - owning 1200 stations making the decision for you

Here’s two words to help you with your decision: satellite radio

One Response to “Howard Stern vs Clear Channel”

  1. Benjamin Sparano Says:

Howard Stern’s entire career is based upon controversy. He is a pioneer for freedom of speech on the radio. Throughout his twenty years on the radio, he has defied the odds, attacking censorship organizations and actually winning the battle! Why? Although his radio program is obviously not for the weak hearted, it hardly needs to be censored, especially when compared to television. Clear Channel is indeed the new Evil Empire.

It saddens me to hear nearly everyday that Stern will finally back down. He really has nothing left to prove, as he has exposed the FCC over and over again. Moreover, more than 12 million people tune in daily; that is several million more people that voted in the last presidential election. As Stern has stated that he will go to satellite if he decides to continue with radio, millions will switch over.
But with Clear Channel, its all politics. Although they claim not to have a political agenda (like they would admit to it, ha), it is clear that Stern is being hunted yet again due to his anti-Bush statements. Allow the facts to speak for themselves:

    • Clear Channel executives have donated $42,200 to the George Bush Campaign
    • The same executives have donated a generous $1,750 to John Kerry’s Campaign
    • Clear Channel’s “political action committee” gave 77% of their $334,501 in federal contributions to Republicans.
    • $334,501 is the largest share of any other entertainment company.

With over 50,000 votes in less than 12 days, the petition against the FCC has began. These votes have been collected without Howard Stern even mentioning the petition on his radio show and/or website. Just imagine if Mr. Stern tried again?
The full story of the injustices by the politically whipped Clear Channel is much more nauseating than what I have already supplied..

On my website, I have published a full article regarding Howard Stern’s battle against the FCC and Clear Channel. My address is http://longview.pitas.com - it is totally non profit and simply a voice for a return to grassroot politics.
