The strength of the two-party system is that when one party gets control of government long enough, they either make a mess of it, or they are perceived as making a mess of it.  Then they get kicked out and the other party gets there shot at making a mess of it.  And on and on it goes.  

With a little luck, we as a society benefit even if it comes in small increments and takes years. It&#039;s obvious to me that we are fortunate to have both conservatives and liberals jockeying for control, because in reality, everybody is a little bit of both.  

Like you said yourself, you would be considered a RINO by some because, even though you&#039;re more conservative than you were years ago, you still have some very liberal views.  In my personal (anecdotal) experience, people who are either extreme left or extreme right are rare. Unfortunately, they&#039;re the ones that get all the press.]]></description>
